I'm probably a little biased when it comes to these two, because Andries is my brother. And ever since he mentioned Yadine's name (over coffee one Sunday evening with stars in his eyes) I knew that she must be something special.
And I was right. We met for the first time when I did a shoot for her hostel's formal - Andries was her date. Dare I say I believe I documented the moments they developed a little crush on each other?
It grew into more than a crush and I already consider Yadine a bonus sister! It's been such a wonderful journey getting to know her and see the impact she's had on my brother's life. I would adopt her as a sister even without my brother in the picture! Not to mention my little girl, Mia, has known aunty Yadine her whole life!
Now I have a beautiful couple that I can pitch ideas to whenever I feel inspiration niggling at the back of my mind. I've always wanted to document an elopement in the Scottish Highlands, so I decided to create something similar in Cape Town. Thank goodness these cool kids were up for getting up super early to drive all the way from Somerset West to Noordhoek just to spend an hour or two in front of my lens!
But I would say it was worth it.
